What is in my bag. I mainly throw Discraft plastic. Being from Michigan it is really hard not to support my local economy. Don’t get me wrong, Innova, Gateway, ect. all make great products.
My favorite discs in my bag are the Pulse, and Avenger SS and my FLX Challenger. I actually carry 3 of each except for the challenger. My throwing technique (overhead) really likes the over stable discs, so the pulse is great. That and the grove it has where my fingers go, it feels so natural. Speaking of pulses, I have a proto-flx pulse that I really hope Discraft comes out with.
The avenger ss I like because there are shots that I have to keep low (not able to throw a thumber). It will go strait if I want it to go strait, hyzer if I want it to hyzer or anhyzer.
Last but not least my flx challenger. Up till this past Christmas I was depending on my Aviar. Then I got the challenger. It has just the right amount of grip being that it is made of flx plastic. I putt using the turbo putt method and the grip on my fingers allows me to add just the right amount of spin.
I’ve got plenty of other discs in my bag but these 3 are definitely my go to discs.

Whats in my bag…
Dang, First off I’ll try to list all the None plastic things that are a must in Michigan. First and foremost you have to have some strong bug spray (99% deet) the skeeters, tics and other goodies out for blood will eat you alive, Bullfrog makes a bug spray and sun screen combo that’s allright but… DEET is a must.. also good to have is trail mix or power bar, rain poncho, extra pencils and score cards(these I keep in a ziplock sealed bag, keeps the rain out) pocket knife, deck of cards, lighter, hand and toe warmers, umbrella, sunglasses,waterbottles(siggs/nalgenes) one to drink and the other to chuck up into trees to get your disc back, mp3 player of choice (when someones trying to work you, tune them out), dog treats (you never know), camping chair, and of course you luckey “rabbits foot” of choice. mine is a stone from an aztec sun temple.
Now lets talk about Discs, Being that I’m from MI I also choose to support the local’s and thfrow mainly discraft.. I do own a little of everything and theres a place for it all but not in my bag ;P. (list is subject to change due to weather and attitude of owner)
Drivers:
Surge 174 esp

Zone midnight first run
Putters:
Banger gt 175 pro d (2)
Banger gt 174 esp
Challenger 173 flx esp
Soft Challenger UV 170 pro d
How I intend to use them sorta depends on the shot at hand, Rollers, hyzer flips, spikes… I like to switch it up and try different things. The sled shot is a fav in winter (throwing short shots with the disc upside down)
February 23rd, 2009 at 6:33 am
Realizing that I wanted to write more (stop laughing) I thought I would add this lil’ note
Surges are for flat out pipe line drives, with a little annie kick thease will soar.
Forces are for when I’m going all out for D, long annie flips with a skip shot at the ebd
SS Avenger’s will do great in the woods when you need a low speend annie with glide to carry you thru.
Predator’s Also great for big D, all out lil annie flips.
Buzzz’s Will do… Well if you dont know then you dont know’em you dont throw’em.
Comets and great low speed tight woods discs.
Meteor I use for fading annie’s
Zone’s are just flat out awesome for Hyzers spike or just all out..
Banger gt and challenger putters do about the same thing for me, pending on what one is working on what day is what I’m whating with.. you know what I what..
Sorry if I left you feeling a tlittle lost with the whole what disc are you gunns use for what.. I got kinda lost in the snow….

Honestly, the majority of the discs in my bag have never been thrown. Until this last Christmas, the only disc I had was a black, beat up EliteX Storm that I found while hukkin’ with my friend, Mike(I just recently found out that they no longer make this disc). Of course, I still have that disc. Even though it’s just about had it, I can’t bear to throw it away. But I digress…
I’ve made a much more serious investment in disc golf recently, thereby adding quite a few discs to my arsenal. The first three came in a bundle that I recieved from my brother-in-law as a Christmas gift. A Leopard, Shark, and an Aviar (all in DX plastic). I’d had experience with the Aviar, as this was the putter I’d borrow from Mike, that friend I’d mentioned earlier. The other two discs were new to me, so I’m looking forward to seeing what I can do with them.
Shortly thereafter, I stumbled across an online disc golf store (not this one, so I won’t mention it..) that had pretty much everything I was looking for, all at good prices. I could not resist. I picked up a few more discs, a bag to put them in, and a few minis, just to say I did. I had to buy myself a Star Beast, because I used to borrow that one from Mike, too (yeah, I was a mooch). I also bought a driver (DX Beast) and a putter (DX Polecat) for my old lady, hoping that maybe if she had a few discs of her own, she might go out and play with me once in a while. I might just steal that Polecat from her…
I’ve only hit the course once this year, and came away with two extra discs. They had no phone numbers or contact info, so I couldn’t return them, so in my bag they went. The first was a Classic Roc that has seen it’s share of chain. Beat to hell, it was. The second looked almost brand-spankin’ new, a DX first run Skeeter. I’d never even heard of the Skeeter before, but after doing a little research on it, I figured I’d give it a whirl. Hell, beggars can’t be choosers…
Just the other day, I stumbled across a couple of misprints/x-outs I decided to buy. The first, a Champion Spider, was bought strictly as an experiment. I’ve been introduced to the art of dyeing discs, and I thought this would be a good one to start with. The second was my first foray into the Discraft mold (yeah, I had a Storm, but c’mon. That thing was cooked…). I bought a double stamped Crush for next to nothing, so I’m hoping it ends up being my “go to” driver. Oh, how sweet would that be?
I wish I could tell you why these discs are in my bag, but like I said, most of them haven’t been thrown yet. I guess I’m just tyring to fill my bag out. Okay, well this ran a tad longer than I meant it to, so I guess I’ll pack it in. Thanks for reading!

Wow hat a great question….First i throw my trusty Rogue (color varies),I switched to the rogue as it really works with my sally ass throwing style….I may not have the arm that most in my division have but with this disc i can compete.
For my upshot I tend to use Fairway drivers from INNOVA most time its a champion leapord…but if i happen to PARK IT then I use my Pink Spike….So what I am Tough enough to Throw Pink…..besides it is easily found during any weather.
As to putters i have a variety i use each does a different throw.
Well thats whats in my bag and thats what I throw….

At heart, I’m a Discraft purist. Many have poked and prodded at my allegiance, but none have convinced me to defect. “Innova for the tee and Discraft for the fairway.” Rubbish. A couple new gateway discs almost infiltrated my bag, but then a feeling of betrayal pervaded my senses like the onset of an affair. I love Discraft, and here’s why:
Surge - This disc could be made out of cardboard and I would still throw it. Each different type of plastic has it’s own flavor, which I sprinkle into every round. Invest in the new Z Surge SS; it really will get you out of debt.
Tracker - Obedient, but delicate. Sensitive to brute force, so I enjoy this disc for smooth transitions.
Comet - It’s the butter on the bread. My weapon against confined spaces and sky-routes. Concave enough to eat cereal out of.
Buzz - Well, it the god of my bag. It governs all other discs. I pledged to this disc from the beginning. I’ll call it a buzztatorship.
Force - A stable captain. This disc is deep, and eats wind for brunch. It also makes a great forehand roller, and a dependable hyzer shot.
XL - Ancient mold that still spins like a top. The FLX version unleashed new powers of control.
Challenger - Where would be without the putter? FLX for drives and ups, Pro D for chains. Like many others, this is the hallmark of my bag.
Being a Michigan native, I was predisposed to throwing a local company’s discs. Long live the disc(raft)!
February 23rd, 2009 at 10:59 am
In my bag.. For starters, I’m not necessarily an Innova or Discraft DGer. Honestly I could go either way, they both make great disc that fly a mile and stick in the chains.
My drivers: My most overstable drivers are these.. 172 INNOVA STAR X-CALIBER, 172 DISCRAFT ESP Force, 172 DISCRAFT ESP Pulse, 174 INNOVA Champion MONSTER
For fairway and shots under 400′, my drivers are as follows: 174 DISCRAFT ESP Avenger, 172 FLX Avenger, 172 FIRST RUN DISCRAFT ESP CRUSH, 175 INNOVA Champion Orc, 173 DISCRAFT Z-XS, 174 INNOVA Champion Viking, 171&167 INNOVA Champion Starfire, 171 Millenium EXP1, 169 INNOVA Champion Orc
For personal preference, I only have one ‘midrange’ disc which is a Millenium 174 QMS. This is the first midrange disc I ever bought and the first disc I ever ACED with. It is very consistent and very STRAIGHT. Even though it is a super-straight disc, I can easily manipulate it in windy conditions.
I also keep a new Z-BUZZZ in my bag for emergencies. That disc is as close to the consistency of the QMS compared to any other midrange disc I’ve come across.
My putters: I have come to putt with two identical DISCRAFT Soft-Challengers 173g. I find that whatever putter tends to grow on me, I must have two of them. I used to throw Aviar-X’s, but they got expensive as they become lost. I switched to Pro-D Challengers and really liked the way they flew, overstable. Then they started to feel very stiff in my hand as the weather got colder, so now I am using the Soft-Challenger, and I really like them.
I throw pretty hard so I have to have 1.5-2.0 stability drivers. Even as I throw high stability rated disc, every once in a while I will still turn one over unexpectedly. So when in doubt, I use the DISCRAFT Pulse or INNOVA Champion Monster to drive through wind or to handle a huge spike-hyzer.
February 23rd, 2009 at 12:18 pm
Six Destroyers, two Wraiths and a C. Boss for long drives. Star Max for super overstable shots. Three Valkyries for short shots. Banger GT for midrange. Omega SS or APs for putting.

1.Champion First Run Boss (175) for max distance shots in a sort of open feild.
2. Regular Champion Boss (175) for huge spike hyzers around trees or something that requires a huge spike hyzers
3. Star 1st Run Excaliber (175) for controlled distance shots.
4. Star Monster (175) Long Forehand Hyzer shots.
Discraft Distance Drivers:
1. ESP Venom (171) or distance drives straight and accurate.
2.ESP Force (174) for max distance shots in on an open hole.
Innova Fairway driver:
1. Star Orc (175) verty controllable, short drives or long approaches.

2. Dx Roc (old 180) straighter shorter approaches (200 ft or less).
3. Kc Pro 11x Roc (new 180) longer hyzer approaches (250 ft or shorter).
Gateway Putters/Very short approach discs:
1. Hard Wizard (175) very short approaches (100 ft or less).
2. Supersoft Wizard (175) longer putts (30-50 ft)
3. Super Stupid Soft Wizard: (0-30 ft)
February 23rd, 2009 at 1:11 pm
Drivers:
174g Champion Destroyer (Sidearm shots)
175g Champion Excallibur (Sidearm shots)
175g Star Monster (Short sidearm shots)
174g Star Wraith (RHBH Distance and forehand rollers)
172g KC Pro Gazelle (RHBH anhyzer and fairway shots)
Midrange:
172g 2003 USDGC Glo Battle Roc (RHBH 250′-)
174g KC Pro Roc-Ontario mold (100′- approach shots)
Putters:
172g 11x KC Pro Aviar (regular putts)
172g 12x KC Pro Aviar (jump putts)
I have to say my favorite and most used disc is my 2003 USDGC Glo Battle Roc. Although it is a collector’s item, and will run someone anywhere from $100 to $150 online, it flies like no other disc I have ever thrown. I can throw it up to 250′ and usually land it 5′ to 10′ from the basket. I think the plastic used for this disc is different or the glow substance makes it different. Whatever it is, it has really improved my game.
I am a sidearm driver, so I almost always use my Excalibur or Destroyer to drive. In a wide open shot situation, I get more distance with the Excalibur. If I have a tighter fairway, I use the Destroyer. A little less distance than the Excalibur, but straighter flight. If the drive calls for RHBH, I use the star wraith. It has just the right amount of stability for me to get some distance. I also use the wraith for my forehand roller shots. Although I use my Rocs for most shots 250′-, my KC Pro Gazelle sometimes comes into play depending on if there is any wind. It doesn’t perform well in the wind. I also use it for short anhyzer shots and some tunnel shots.
My main putter is the 11x KC Pro Aviar. It seems to work best with my putting style. I used to use a weight transfer method of putting and the wizard was my got to. I switched to a straddle putt and the aviar seems to want to go in the basket more than the wizard. I like the feel of the plastic better also. For jump putts, I use the 12x KC Pro Aviar. I think the dome of the disc makes it easier to control from longer distances.
I know I throw only Innova right now, but I am not opposed to using other brands. If it ain’t broke, don’t try to fix it. Maybe if I had a tourney bag, I would have room for other brands.(HINT,HINT)
I carry all of these in a Revolution Camo Mini Bag. Other items I keep in my bag are 2 water bottles, LSDiscs mini, a Sharpie(in case I get an ace before I die), a lighter, and usually something to catch on fire with that lighter. Nothing illegal of course.

In my bag….hmm what a good question, let me take a look here.Well I got have two 175g CFR Glo champion firebirds for sidearm shots my favorite shots and how I learned to disc golf. I have another 170g champion firebird for those high hyzer shots over trees(dam those trees). I have 175g CFR xcaliber with a White Zombie dye, 175g first run star xcaliber, and a 174g eco star xcaliber for those sharp turn holes. Also two 170g champion destroyers for those long straight holes. I have a 174g first run champion boss that I throw for straight sidearm shots and another 175g champion boss for big D. Also have a 172g star valk for turnover sidearm shots. I have a 175g night shift star boss and a 175gdestroyer for bib big D. I also have two 170g aviar drivers for those short holes. Last but not least I have 2 165 KC pro aviars, my babies lol. Oh ya I forgot to mention my bag is a carolina revolution bag, but any bag will do for me. the one possession that we all hold dear. i feel naked without it, the disc golf bag…
the bag is an old, OLD revolution bag with quads. it is the larger bag in black, looks gray) that has seen many many years of disc golf. only one of those years was this bag on my team. another touring player happily handed it down to me, and its got alot of life left. although it has holes and broken pieces and faded cloth, it does the trick and does it well.
discs——–
—putt and approach—
175 old pro d magnet, blue with the hearbeat logo - main putter
175 old stokley magnet, yellow ‘putting ourselves through college’ - jump putts and approaches
175 pro d challenger, red BHMO ghost stamp, approach or drive inside 260
176 pro d zone, one blue beat, one orange new - windy short drives, windy approaches
—midrange—
177 beat esp buzzz, blue DD dye, nice mix of flx/esp
177 buzzz newer, blue - straight shots, anything from 250-300 or so, low ceilings, slow flip ups and stright skips.
176 first run meteor, mainly a utility disc, this is my go-to get-me-out-of-this-crap disc. very versitile saves me strokes
—drivers—
174 ESP-first run force - white FLAT - beat long s-shot bombs
174 ESP-first run force - blue - new long drives 300+
174 ESP-force , green, forehands and hyzer shots 300+
174 Z-force , blue nostamp - working this disc in place of the green one so that it will last longer and stay stable.
175 surge, orange, 2007 bhmo stamp. finesse forehands and backhands spot on 280, with a great hyzer flip up line.
175 ESP- First run crush, two of these, one beat one new. these are less stable than regular run esp crushes and fly more like a fairway driver, i prefer a wide rim, but im working in a 175 esp tracker in their place for backhand. these crushes are for 250foot pop forehands and finesse drivers when its windy and the buzzz isnt stable enough.
175 Z-crush. dark blue very flat very stable. windy forehands, and backhands inside 300. and makes a GREAT skip-shot disc in this z plastic.
175 first run Z-flick, sharp turning forehands, that i dont want to go very far. and short spikes. this disc does what it does, and nothing else. i can throw it and turn away and walk to where i wanted it, and its there. the wind doesnt even want to mess with it.
depending on the course and weather, and how bad i need to rescue a shot from the bushes, ill add some of these.
heavy z-predator
limited edition ESP Venom
brand new magnet for approaches
175+ cryztal buzzz, replaces an esp buzzz in windy conditions
—extras—
-microfiber towel for glass, from an auto parts store, these arent leaf magnets like the cheap regular microfibers, and the fit right in your pocket. soft too!
-another towel, regular, for mud
-reusable handwarmer made by zippo, for the winter
-granola bars, and treats
-a waterproof container with a disc golf first aid kit inside
-high adhesive bandages
- waterproof medical tape
- Ibuprofen
-toenail/fingernail clippers
- superglue
- matches
- alcohol swabs
- magnet mini
-columbus flyers mini
-sharpie and fine tip sharpie
- countless pencils
-and about one pound of dirt and leaves in the bottom of the pockets. i play in all weather so it seems to fill faster than i can empty it. i just let it decompose and fall out the self-made drainholes.
my discs like disc golf, and they like to be dirty, im not sure if they would feel at home in a new clean bag. maybe someday theyll get to try it out. but until then, they love the early model revo.

What’s in MY bag ? Lots. Lots and LOTS. I still have the first disc I ever bought, a dx shark. I still love that disc. I also have a lot of other discs in my bag. This is where I list them. DX Aviar, DX Wolf, DX Cobra, DX Shark, DX Stingray, DX Optimizer, Champion Spider, DX Roc, Pro D Buzzz, Pro D XL, DX Cheetah, DX Leopard, DX Gazelle, Elite Z Reaper, DX Archangel, Champion Monster, Champion Orc, DX Valkyrie, DX Valkyrie, JK Pro Champion Valkyrie, DX Cro. I even have a first run Groove that is orange. I don’t know why I feel like that is special, I just feel that way. Also in my bag I have sharpies, pencils, pencil sharpeners, scratch pads, bug spray, two water bottles, an umbrella, my cell phone, mp3 player. That is all I can think of, but that should be enough.
I think the one thing that I have in my bag that is important is an extra disc for a friend or newcomer. No matter what, I will always have something for someone to throw.

Well, let’s start off with my bag. It’s a cheap laptop bag from a company I used to work for and was sitting at the back of the closet. C’mon we all have a bag like that. So when I got into disc golf last year, I found it made a decent starter bag without forking out the dough for one of the nicer bags yet. In my bag, I carry an assorted collection of Innova discs. When first researching disc golf, their disc descriptions were so easy for me to follow. Where as Discraft just left me scratching my head. Alright, the putters I carry are the DX Aviar and DX Aero, both white. The Aero was my first putter and is my main but when the wind picks up I reach for the heavier Aviar. My midranges include a blue DX Skeeter and an orange DX Kite. I’ve found the smaller diameter mid’s to be much easier for me to throw accurately. I started out with a Shark but ended up giving it to my brother. Now my drivers are a neon orange Champion Starfire, a fire engine red Star TL(to replace my lost Pro Teebird-L, my first disc and one true love), a dark red Pro SL and a neon red DX Valkyrie. My Valkyrie is another of my first discs and is rather worn and turns over very easily, so is rather limited in use for me but sees time as a nice forehand roller. The Star TL is my straight line driver, when I can get it to stay down. Seems like it has a bigger bead than my pro did, and I’m not as comfortable with it as I used to be. My Pro SL sees most of my drive time now with it’s nice fade and ability to chew up distance. For the majority of my forehand drives, I turn to my trusty Champion Starfire. It truly is a beautiful sight when that neon orange disc flattens out and knifes through the air. Well, I hope you have enjoyed the trip through my bag.
See you next time.

I don’t really have that many in my bag, but here it goes.
Z-flick: Because my friends are too broke to buy their own discs and they think that “throwing overhead” is the coolest thing in the world. This is the easiest for them to throw.
Innova Coyote + Cobra: my first two discs ever. Good mid-range discs. I usually just give them to my friends since they are terrible.
Disccraft Magnet: I need something to put with and i’ve heard this is the best. It does the job for me.
Disccraft Avenger SS: One that my friends CAN’T use. It’s all mine. It goes straight and long. It replaced my other Avenger, which I managed to throw A LOT further than I had ever thought possible and ended up in a pond never to be seen again.
I also have a really generic “driver” from Frisbee I think. Found that baby in the woods after i mis-threw my Coyote. It was covered in poison ivy, so, you guessed it, I let my friends use it.

I throw a glow sidewinder because I start my round before the sun comes up and I like to throw it on more than one hole-so I have to be able to find it in the dark. My 2 Leopards can sneak around the trees, although my older one sometimes goes so far left I have to go to California to retrieve it! My TeeBird, however, can be counted on to fly straight to the chains. For my mid-range shots, I can count on my Halloween Buzz-thanks to DGRUS! And my Cro-oops, I left it in a basket last week and now I have to throw a Cobra. Putts are always Aviar-lightweight orange if I’m close and a heavier purple if I didn’t lay it up just right.
February 25th, 2009 at 10:56 pm

As a Newbie i bought to fast to wrong, however in may bag are the following
Beast 170, Ching Velocity 171,Wraith 161, Champion roadrunner 171, & sindwinder 160, 1,2,3 Slice from Lighting disc all 170, Spider 170, Elite X 171, Elite ZZ reaper 170, and to finish out the hole two XD 175 putters.
I find my Reaper to be my fair weather drive, Ching i’m using on windy days. drive are not the prettiest or the fartherest but they are getting the job done. Roadrunner and Sidewinder are my second disc choice, really long holes i re-throw my driver. for tough shots #1 slice has been my disc of choice dog legs to the left or similar conditions. Spider for a dead stiraght saving shot like out of the trees or thickets. My XD Putter from 100 ft or less. the othe 20 disc are in box in the basement collecting who knows what.

Answering the Question for What is in my bag and why?
Short shots and putting…Millennium Omega beat for turnover and DX Aviar putter new for stability, oh and DX Rhyno for Over-stability and Wind fighting.
Approach shots…Star XD, DX XD.
Star for overstable shots, one beat DX for turnover and a new DX for straight shots.
Short holes and Mid-Range…DX and Star Cobras and KC Pro Roc.
Beat DX Cobras for rollers and turnover shots, Star Cobras for straight shots and a KC Pro Roc for a bit more left turn and a bit shorter.
Drivers…Champion Firebird, Star Max, Star TeeBird, Champion Orc, Tulsa Orc, Champion Monarch, Star Roadrunner, Star Monarch, Champion Groove, & Champion Boss!
Firebird and Max for short hyzer chop shots (and the firebird skips well).
Star TeeBird for controlled landings.
Champion and Star Orc for long hard left hyzer turns.
Champion Monarch and Star Roadrunner for straight and slight turnover shots.
Star Monarch for the big bomb turnover to come out and glide.
New Groove and Boss for Fast wind fighting long hyzer shots. The Boss skips better.
Other discs that will find their way in and out of my bag for different conditions or courses inclued-
DX Stingrays-Beat and New for toothpick tree courses.
Pro Wraith, Star Wraith, DX Wraith-I load these into the bag for tournaments often.
TeeRex, Starfire, and XCaliber are great wind fighters and get loaded in on windy days. I skip a champion TeeRex well.
I am going to try a star Valkyrie today!
See you at the Course!
