Of course we should follow the rules!!! but within reason. let's face it, most of us that play disc golf wont be in the top 3 at a world championship anytime soon. It's like someone once told me ( makes motion with hand over head ) if you set a goal at a medium range and fall short, then you are at that level, but if you set your goals high and fall short you are probably going to be at a level thats higher than if you set your goal low and fell short. So while realizing we may not achieve 100% adhesion to the rules, we need to strive to stick to our guns. No one is ever going to be perfect and that can apply to Disc Golf as well. To Me It's kind of like seeing someone go a few miles over the speed limit, most of us would be ok with that, but if you exceed the speed limit by 50 MPH we all would tend to think you should get a ticket or possibly even be arrested. Same thing applies to following the rules of Disc Golf . If we just let people get away with anything then where will it stop? But it's really the bigger violations that I think most of us would be concerned with.
for example if you saw someone flip a disc and nudge it forward an inch on a 50 ft putt you probably wouldn't call it in most local tournaments. but if you saw someone pick up a shot and move it 10 feet back into the fairway and not call it or take a stroke wouldn't you say something? I know I would. But lets face it, not all the rules are going to be followed, and what we decide are the "important ones" and what someone else thinks are the "important ones" are two different things. So we need to strive to hold as much of the rules strong as much as possible, while still realizing the world is not going to spontaneously combust if a minor rule isn't followed 100%.
